From Concept to Delivery: How Quik Spray Built a Custom Unit for SEQ Water’s Unique Needs

Queensland’s water supply authority SEQ Water, is responsible for delivering safe and secure water to millions of people across Southeast Queensland. As part of their mission to manage catchment health and control weeds in their region, SEQ Water Ipswich recently approached Quik Spray to create a custom solution to meet their requirements.

As returning customers, SEQ Water came to Quik Spray with unique specifications that they required to make their new FTB suitable for the challenges that they face in their work. One major issue they were facing was continual damage to the FTB controllers and water inlets sustained by driving in rural and overgrown locations with low hanging trees and bushes.

Quik Spray responded to this issue by providing custom features to a FTBT-300 – a rear facing hydrant air gap fill system, and a protective stainless-steel cover mounted over the controllers and water inlets. This ensured they were protected from damage caused by trees and bushes.

In addition, SEQ Water needed full use of their stowage space in the FTBs storage lockers. The traditional style removable ladder that was previously stored in the lockers was redesigned as a fixed, rear-mounted ladder that can be folded away when not in use using a locking hinge system.

To ensure the FTB unit would fit on their vehicles, Quik Spray also customised the frame to shorten the overall length of the unit.

The final product that Quik Spray provided to SEQ Water included the following unique, custom features:

Twin reel with 150m of hose per reel and T400 spray guns included.
Tank site gauge
Baffle balls
Custom rear fold down ladder mounted between forklift pockets
Custom control box cover
Fully vented lockers
